Don’t Miss Out4Life!

Prison Fellowship, the Oregon Department of Corrections, and the Oregon Governor’s Re-Entry Council are co-sponsoring a major conference on Re-Entry on October 25-27, 2010 called Out4Life.  Over 30 workshops and 5 plenary sessions on a wide range of  re-entry topics will be featured at this event!

Transitioning from prison back to the community is the most difficult part of the prison experience for most prisoners.  This conference will provide great information for anyone interested in helping prisoners make a new start in the community.

We'd like to invite anyone in Idaho or Washington to make the drive to Portland for this exciting event!

Local Focus

idahoPrison Fellowship exists to seek the transformation of prisoners and their reconciliation to God, family, and the community through the power and truth of Jesus Christ.

Our ministry focuses on introducing prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families to the Lord Jesus Christ and in helping them grow in their Christian walk.

Discipleship is not a destination. It is a lifelong process!

Prison Fellowship’s ministry in Idaho is vibrant! Volunteers and churches are discipling prisoners in most of Idaho’s prisons, and are also engaged in effective re-entry ministry in Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Boise, Coeur D’Alene and Twin Falls.

Caring Christians can invest their gifts and talents by serving as a volunteer in a local Ministry Delivery Team. There are limitless opportunities to bring the hope of Christ to prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families – in correctional facilities, the community, or in an administrative role. And as we serve together God is glorified!

Volunteer Needs

We are now expanding our emphasis in Transformational Ministry in Boise, Coeur D’Alene, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and Twin Falls. This has opened up many new opportunities to get involved. We are particularly in need of men and women to serve in the following roles:

  • Instructors for Pre-Release Ministry: As men and women face the difficult transition from prison back to the community, we want to prepare them to live a new, Christ-centered life. They will face challenges and temptations. Pre-release classes will address the spiritual and practical issues they face, and will be offered in minimum-security facilities.

  • Mentors: Perhaps the most important role of any volunteer is to serve as a mentor to a man or woman beginning a new life in the community. Prison Fellowship provides training and support for mentors as they coach, encourage, and walk with former prisoners.

  • Community Re-Entry Team Members: These teams provide a wide range of ministry activities to help Christian ex-prisoners successfully transition to life in the community. Volunteers identify local housing opportunities, transitional education, practical supplies, and other available resources.

  • Angel Tree: Families suffer greatly as their loved one serves a prison sentence. Angel Tree opens the door for a redemptive ministry to prisoners’ families.

Prayer Requests

  • For God to continue to open doors for Transformational Ministry throughout the state of Idaho.

  • For the hundreds of men and women who currently serve the Lord by teaching Bible studies, leading worship, mentoring, and sharing the love of Christ with prisoners’ families.

  • For the Church in Idaho to embrace the vision of redeeming the lives of prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families.
